Myles Cream recently released his first EP, “GRILLO”, and I was given the opportunity to shoot for this music artist rapper from Pennsauken, New Jersey.
I was given creative freedom with my interpretation for his intro song “2309”. While listening to the song, the lyrics that hit me the most were “I could be just what I wanted”, “My mama planted the seeds for me to grow”, “They fucking up my mental for a #2 pencil” and “Lost in the moment, lost in the mission. I substitute myself for pieces that others are missing”.
Throughout the song, I imagined Myles talking about himself and his experience in Pennsauken. The mirror is a representation of his subconscious which, in his current state, is telling him what to do. However, none of what his subconscious is telling him benefits him at all, Myles chooses to ignore that voice so he can be himself. By ignoring the voices in his head about the world he lives in, he now lives in peace…. With no cheese.
